Lia Bughadze
Pediatrician
Born in Tbilisi into a family of doctors, she was familiar from childhood with the environment in which physicians work and aspired to become a doctor herself. Despite her parents' resistance—as they were well aware of the profession's challenges—she stood by her decision. After graduating from Tbilisi Public School No. 5, she enrolled in the Faculty of Pediatrics at the Tbilisi State Medical Institute, graduating in 1986. In 1986–1987, she completed her internship at the 3rd Tbilisi Children's Clinical Hospital.
During her student and internship years, she conducted research on "Determining Constitutional Types in Children According to Goethe's Theory of Colors" and "Characteristics of Constitutional Types in Various Childhood Pathologies." From 1987 to 1991, she worked as a pediatrician at the Mtskheta District Hospital and as a school physician in Mtskheta. Since 1992, she has worked as a pediatrician and therapist at "Therapiehaus" LLC. In 1993–1994, she served as an assistant and translator for the Norwegian physician Egil Tine. In 1994, she participated in the founding of the Waldorf School and served as the school physician until 2004. During these years, she systematically conducted lectures and discussions for teachers and parents regarding child physiology and pathology.
In 1996, she worked as a guest physician in the pediatric department of the Herdecke Community Hospital in Germany under the supervision of Professor Christoph Tautz. In May 2003, within the framework of the Georgian Medical Congress, she completed a continuous medical education course at the Institute of Advanced Medical Training on the "Principles, Priorities, and Possibilities of Using Phytoadaptogens." In October 2003, she trained at the Department of Pediatrics and Neonatology on "Anemias in Childhood." In November–December 2006, she completed a continuous medical education program on "Modern Aspects of Systemic Connective Tissue Diseases." From 2002 to July 2006, alongside her main profession, she studied therapeutic eurythmy, acquiring the skill and right to prescribe and lead curative eurythmy according to diagnosis.
In 1996, she participated in the founding of the Medical College of the "Human and Nature" Association, where she currently serves as a member of the Supervisory Board, Head of the Quality Development Service, and a lecturer. From 2012 to 2014, she hosted the television program "Child Development and the Role of Adults in this Process" on the "Obieqtivi" channel. Since 2013, she has been a guest consultant on children's issues for the program "Other Midday" on Rustavi 2. She systematically participates in medical conferences in Switzerland and Germany and conducts lectures on child development and its characteristics at "Therapiehaus," the Waldorf School and Kindergarten, the Social Therapy House, and St. Michael's Home for Children with Disabilities.
